What amazes her is the number of questions her friends and coworkers have about living in Africa, and I hope this book can answer some of those questions. Book Synopsis Voices of Our Ancestors is simply a call and an ode (lyrical poem) dedicated to Africa and the black world to help rediscover its roots, culture, and traditional and ancestral values. "Awareness is necessary to ensure that the current and future generations know that we existed before others existed. In short, we must tell them the implacable truth to instill in them our values, culture, and ancestral references. Also, let us tell the youth the truth about the real foundations of our Continent. Some myths our culture include, we do not believe in Santa Claus and Satan is not black. Each race has its ancestors and its egregore (spiritual sphere) and that our sphere is almost empty because we pray to the ancestors of others. We should inform them our spiritual rites are not witchcraft. Before the Bible and the arrival of ships and missionaries, Africa had a script for guidance; we believed in divinities." Book Excerpt “A silhouette of a wolf stood high in the sky. The earth shook as the upturned head of the red-eyed animal howled. The moonlit night gave little clue that life existed upon the land. Fog blanketed the earth’s surface, allowing no glimpse of it. On a night that loomed bleak and dreary, the bones of the dead, rattled deep down inside dark graves as they rose to sit upon the earth. A golden-eyed owl perched high on the limb of a leafless tree. Its bright eyes shone for all that journeyed forth in the dead of the night. Winged fowls flew through the night air in answer to the wolf’s call. Marine life swirled around in every body of water. Silent footsteps moved across the land as the spirits of animals, large and small, howled in their voices, acknowledging this long-awaited gathering. It was the night of the rebirth of the Mother Prophet to walk upon the earth again.” About the Authors

The Essence of Me
I am owning the very essence and beauty of who I have become because of the road I have traveled. I no longer regret me!
While choosing to allow my pain to surface, I became reacquainted with freedom and love!
Stop resisting what we need to deal with.
Letting Go is the master key that I had unknowingly always possessed deep down in the vaults of my soul.
Allow forgiveness to arise so we can rise.
Bitterness of any kind will not allow you to just be.

Excerpt
The Essence of Me
I am owning the very essence and beauty of who I have become because of the road I have traveled. I no longer regret me!
While choosing to allow my pain to surface, I became reacquainted with freedom and love!
Stop resisting what we need to deal with.
Letting Go is the master key that I had unknowingly always possessed deep down in the vaults of my soul.
Allow forgiveness to arise so we can rise.
Bitterness of any kind will not allow you to just be.
You will ‘just be’ miserable if you don’t allow things to end.

“Minnee, come here; let me show you somethin.” “What do you want?” I yelled as I walked to the vacant building that was two doors down from where we lived. My sister and I walked up to the porch and stepped inside the apartment complex; it smells like stale cigarettes. We climbed the staircase leading to the second floor. Down the hall in front of us was a window with tattered curtains that looked as if a wild cat had shredded them. As we opened the door, there are children of all ages jumping and running around in the room. What we see next, shocks us!

Sometimes my thoughts flow gracefully like a river on a sunny day, and at other times they are more like a tornado touching down strewing debris across the dark landscape. The Novel excerpt:
David jumped up off Lisa’s couch out of a bad dream. Lisa looked with concern on her face from the kitchen. She could see David in the living room. “You good cuz? I see you still having nightmares about what happened a month ago.” David was having nightmares that the Blood they murdered was coming back to kill him. Lisa rubbed David’s back, “You going to be all right little brother. The first time takes longer to get over.” David just stared hard trying to understand how such a beautiful black Queen could be a cold-hearted killer. He felt better though that he had gotten revenge for his brother, B.G. Looney and his family. David smiled a little, “Sis, how can you be so gorgeous and so gangster at the same time?” Lisa threw up the neighborhood Crip sign. “It’s just in me,” she chuckled with the confidence of a killer. “Brother, you going to need a new name. Little Cuz don’t suit you no more. How about Mister?” Lisa asked smoothly pointing both her index fingers at him. David was pleased. “Sister, I like that cuz, Mister.” He put his face in his hands and thought about how much he loved his new name, Mister. “Let’s go on Washington Street later tonight, Lisa said. “I got a babysitter, and I need a stack. You know I’m strapped so let one of them niggas run up on you again.” Lisa rubbed her hands together at the thought of fucking up another Blood. David went into kitchen throwing up a Crip sign along the way. Lisa thought that David wasn’t the average fifteen- year- old. He was so wise for his age. I got so much love for him though, Lisa thought. He about to be a cold gangster, especially hanging around me. She smiled as she watched her young trainee. Lisa retreated to her room to sneak in a nap before Jasmine woke up. David closed himself up in the bathroom to smoke some weed. Catching a glimpse of his former self in the mirror, he understood that the street life was taking its toll on his young life. I’m supposed to be playing with my friends, being young and having fun, David thought as the realities of his life set in. Instead, I’m at my sister’s house recovering from murdering someone. David turned away from the mirror. He couldn’t stand to look at that stranger in the mirror any longer. Now, its time to embrace this new young man called Mister. He took out his lighter put the joint to his lips as he sat on the toilet. What am I going to do with my life? I’m in school still focused on being a writer. I got over a thousand dollars in my pocket and a zone and a half of crack. Fuck my dad. I’m helping my mom out, even though I don’t stay there. David was searching for something to be proud of. He threw the joint roach in the toilet and flushed it... “This novel will take you on a creative journey, through fictional events crafted by the author! The book tells the story of Mister's double life, at home and on the streets. His struggle to find himself is riveting! “ Sharon Blake Author of , “The Thought Detox” |

This book is way more than I thought it would be and I am so grateful to dig in.
I am a company owner, mother, stepmom and a big ideas person. I totally was feeling like I was unconnected to my feminine energy. I wanted to feel happier and get away from the pushing I was doing in my life, my relationship was feeling forced and so I went on a hunt. I knew what the issue was, my feminine energy was at an all time low.
You get: The Real Truth as to why you feel S**t and what you can do about it. So much here but easy to read.
So I picked this to read on my Kindle. It speaks straight to my inner need and it comes from someone who was experiencing life just as I was. Honestly, this is a gem. I am going to go back through and do all the things she suggests, I just could not help diving in like a hungry child and reading as much as i could. That strategy has helped my for a few days... now I need to go deeper, way deeper and change my entire approach to my life.
I am 100% happy with my new book and will be spending hours with it transforming how I interact with my life.
Jada is a student of self-reflection and internal and external conflict resolution. A trained mediator, facilitator, and coach she enjoys helping her clients with transformational energy shifts, life patterning and unmasking the self-defeating identities that thwart our brilliance.

Dear Vulnerable is a journey of deep self-reflection documented with love for self and other women who are challenged to allow the power of the feminine to be her guide.

“It is incredible to know that God loves me so much that there’s nothing I could do or say to separate him from loving me. When I am feeling weak, unlovable, and alone, my God is faithful and expresses the truth of how He feels about me. When I think about the love that is revealed towards me through Jesus our Lord - my heart sings. Tears fill my eyes to think of how God loves me so faithfully; He knows me through-and-through.” Sanura

This book, even though my children are older, is wonderful. It made me miss when they were younger although I wouldn't change a thing. I cannot wait to share this book with our future grandchildren.
I can see this book becoming one of the "standards" in children's books and I look forward to reading and collecting more from Catrice and Asiyah! Both of these women have great talent and clearly love writing and illustrating. I highly recommend this book.

Latoya Dukes
Latoya Dukes was born in 1991 and raised in Bellevue, WA. She is married to her childhood sweetheart, a man she has been with since she was a freshman in high school. They have three beautiful children: a boy and two girls. A stay-at-home mom, Latoya also works from home with Monat products. She loves helping others and pushing them to be better than they were before.
Latoya shares...
"From the time I was a kid until the time I reached the age of 25, I got pretty good at hiding any pain, concealing it from everybody. However, those last two sexual assaults finally got me. I thought that I could just forget it, as always, and continue to live my life as if I was okay. Not anymore. Once it all hit me, I turned away from God, my husband, family, and friends. I closed everyone off and went into a deep depression, one that I thought I would not be able to come out of. I looked good on the outside, but on the inside, I was so gone and just wanted to die.
Don’t count yourself out, and don’t settle for less. Take it one day and one step at a time. When you wake up, breathe and tell yourself that it’s going to be okay. What happened to you does not define you or who you are, but it does get you ready to go and tell your story. "

Todd Alan’s mission is to light the path that leads others to the fire; lighting the fire in the hearts of others. His presence can be felt by all who come in contact or hear his voice on his radio show, Life Mastery Radio. He understands his purpose in life is to serve that which serves him and fellow mankind. “The whole point of our lives is to develop connecting relationships”, shares Todd Alan. Mr. Cudaback is a successful entrepreneur and has spent many years studying success, happiness and well being using the process and science of dynamic alchemy.
Todd shares…. “There is nothing that brings me greater joy to my heart that to see the lights come on in another humans’ eye.”
I used to ask questions that fell flat: Why am I so down on myself? How do I shut off these constant thoughts? Why is every day so robotic and dreary? It's hard for me to believe that those ideas kick-started my day, but it explains why my days were full of challenges. After three visits to alcohol recovery, I started to wake up. Today I can honestly say that I know who I am. I know my gifts, and I am grateful that every morning I wake again to a new day. I also know what I am not, and I don't waste time doing things I'm not called to do.
People make up their mind to be successful, but they must have principles in place to keep moving each and every day. That’s the life mastery way of living. I invite you to try it out. The keys are in this book.

Kathei McCoy, affectionately known as Coach Kathei, is an ordained minister and Certified Life Coach with a passionate mission is to write stories, speak messages and teach principles that empower women and girls to live in the fierceness of truth and freedom. After grieving the painful murder of her one and only son, K'Breyan Clark, she is turning his tragic death into a movement for women call “Save Our Sons.” Kathei believes the real tragedy of any painful loss is when we get stuck and never discover the meaning and purpose of our pain. She will encourage you to boldly face your tragedy by answering the burning question, “What will I do with my pain?” Kathei is the loving wife of 17 years to her husband Raymond McCoy and mama to her grandson K’Breyan D. Clark
It played like a broken record, "your son is spoiled," "your son's behavior will get worse in his teens." The more I heard this, the less I listened. I knew what was best for my son and I was hell bent on raising him differently than how I was raised. What I didn't realize was that I was parenting out of brokenness and was using my son to get the affection and attention I longed for from my parents and the love I desired from the men in my life. Soon I was living a nightmare as I hopelessly watched my teenage son's life start spiraling out of control to his eventual senseless murder. This book takes you on my journey of love, devastating loss and triumph!

"An eye-opening and ground-breaking book that looks deep beneath the surface to uncover and expose the unique, underlying dynamics between Black mothers and their sons. Masterfully, Coach Kathei explains the linkages and connections between a mother’s own low-level self-love, inner voids, her search for love, or unhealed emotional wounds and how these directly translate into how she engages and relates to her son. A must-read!"
– Debrena Jackson Gandy, Nationally Published Best-selling Author
"To Mothers Raising Their Sons is a much-needed book in today’s culture where more of our sons are expected to be incarcerated than graduate from college. Ms. McCoy takes you on a painful but necessary personal journey of how she raised her only son. However, she does not leave you in a place of despair; from her mistakes, she provides mothers strategies to recognize what is most influencing their parenting and where to make immediate positive changes. The candor in which Ms. McCoy is honest about her past is refreshing; the only way changes can be made is to first acknowledge what was done, and make a conscious effort to change the behavior. To Mothers Raising Their Sons does that exactly."
