David jumped up off Lisa’s couch out of a bad dream. Lisa looked with concern on her face from the kitchen. She could see David in the living room. “You good cuz? I see you still having nightmares about what happened a month ago.” David was having nightmares that the Blood they murdered was coming back to kill him. Lisa rubbed David’s back, “You going to be all right little brother. The first time takes longer to get over.” David just stared hard trying to understand how such a beautiful black Queen could be a cold-hearted killer. He felt better though that he had gotten revenge for his brother, B.G. Looney and his family. David smiled a little, “Sis, how can you be so gorgeous and so gangster at the same time?” Lisa threw up the neighborhood Crip sign. “It’s just in me,” she chuckled with the confidence of a killer. “Brother, you going to need a new name. Little Cuz don’t suit you no more. How about Mister?” Lisa asked smoothly pointing both her index fingers at him. David was pleased. “Sister, I like that cuz, Mister.” He put his face in his hands and thought about how much he loved his new name, Mister. “Let’s go on Washington Street later tonight, Lisa said. “I got a babysitter, and I need a stack. I used to ask questions that fell flat: Why am I so down on myself? How do I shut off these constant thoughts? Why is every day so robotic and dreary? Kathei McCoy, affectionately known as Coach Kathei, is an ordained minister and Certified Life Coach with a passionate mission is to write stories, speak messages and teach principles that empower women and girls to live in the fierceness of truth and freedom. After grieving the painful murder of her one and only son, K'Breyan Clark, she is turning his tragic death into a movement for women call “Save Our Sons.” Kathei believes the real tragedy of any painful loss is when we get stuck and never discover the meaning and purpose of our pain.
